Belief

"What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence."
--Bertrand Russell

I came across this wonderful quote couple of days back. Every word is so genuine and has so much to say. Russell's quote has really cleared all the confusion hanging around in my life since last couple of months. Though it is hard to accept the fact but you cant deny the truth. It has taken me months and might take years to digest this fact. They say that more than love, it is the trust that keeps your relationship going. But now i feel that true love keeps the trust going on forever no matter how the other person treats you.

Sometimes I really wonder if it is love that keeps two person bounded or it is the fulfillment of individual's desires in the relationship. If an individual's desires are not satisfied in a relation then i guess just the love factor wont keep that relation going. And all human beings are selfish and they will strive for their happiness and 'they will do something they never did, to get something they never had'. But the question here is, can you keep someone happy if you yourself are unhappy with your life?? I guess you really need a genuine partner to understand you during such a stage of your life rather than leaving him alone to come out of it. But the best part of life is that it moves on and it never remains the same.
